Colocation(s)
Commissioned by MéMO, the Montauban media library, Colocation(s) places two apartments side by side as a reflection across time: one furnished in the style of the 1970s, the other in that of the 2020s. Everyday objects become discreet doorways between the physical room and its layered histories.
Ten augmented-reality triggers are woven into the décor—a book cover, a television test pattern, a poster and other familiar details. When visitors point a phone or tablet at them, the apartments begin to move, sound and reveal their stories.
Experiences
- A family meal appears in the kitchen, filmed on green screen and composited into the apartment.
- A radio programme can be heard in the space.
- A playable recreation of Space Invaders appears through augmented reality.
- 3D objects animate within the rooms.
- Visitors can explore archival material and change the television programmes.
Production and credits
I independently developed the augmented-reality application in Unity, modelled 3D objects, recorded and integrated sound, assembled the interactive content, and published the app for iOS and Android. Salade Suprême created the exhibition scenography; they were not involved in developing the augmented-reality installation.
Exhibition history
- 2021–2022 — Commissioned and presented by MéMO in Montauban, France.
The exhibition's public run was very short. COVID restrictions first kept it closed for a year; when reopening was planned, the basement flooded, further disrupting the project.
