I/O

I/O (In/Out) brings two image-making technologies face to face: an analog overhead projector and a digital virtual-reality painting setup. On one side, oil in a liquid bath creates shifting moiré patterns beneath an overhead projector. On the other, a visitor uses an HTC Vive and Tilt Brush to paint in virtual space, with the result shown through a video projector.

The installation invites people to make light in the space, moving between physical image-making and a virtual canvas. I conceived and built the entire setup.
